A work apron that doesn't know it's a work apron.

Inspired by the maku — the large banners and curtains that have marked Japanese festivals, temples, and ceremonies for centuries. The same fabric. The same construction. Repurposed for the hands-on hours of daily life.

The cotton is dense without being heavy. Dyed by hand using a traditional hiki-zome technique — a brush-pulled method that saturates both sides of the fabric evenly. The colour deepens over time. The apron earns its marks.

A deep front slit allows full movement — crouch, reach, open. The pockets sit exactly where your hands fall. The ties adjust the silhouette. Fold the whole thing into the back pocket when you're done.

Not just for cooking. For making things. For the hours when you are actually doing something.

Care

• Machine wash at 40°C · Use a mesh laundry bag
• Do not use chlorine bleach
• Do not soak in hot water — dry promptly after washing

• Dry clean and wet cleaning acceptable
• Hand-dyed — slight colour variation and brush marks are part of the character of each piece
